About this idea
Remote work is rapidly expanding, with nearly a third of the global workforce already working remotely. This number is expected to reach 40% in the next five years. Having worked in remote, hybrid settings and completed most of my college classes online, I’ve seen a clear gap in resources for remote workers. In talking with dozens of remote workers, I’ve found that many share the same challenges: staying productive, maintaining work-life balance, and prioritizing health. When your workspace overlaps with your home, these lines can easily blur. That’s why I created the REMOTivatEd app. It offers a variety of challenges designed to help remote workers stay focused and balanced. Users can browse through different challenges based on their goals and interests, and once they sign up, the app delivers daily, practical tasks to help them make steady progress. If you've read Atomic Habits by James Clear, you’ll know that creating lasting habits happens through small, consistent steps—REMOTivatEd works the same way. With reminders, progress tracking, and plans for motivational features like a fun character, rewards, and integration with tools like Slack, REMOTivatEd is more than just a productivity app. It’s built specifically for remote workers by listening to their needs. We’re currently in the development stage and preparing a prototype for testing with early users. If you’d like to be among the first to try it, let us know! The feedback from initial testers will shape our improvements, helping us launch a version that truly serves the remote workforce.
Impact
With REMOTivatEd, I aim to empower remote workers to build sustainable, healthy habits that last. Sticking to new routines can be challenging, especially without the structure of an office environment. REMOTivatEd addresses this by providing daily, manageable tasks that allow users to make steady progress towards their goals. Strategic reminders and accountability tools ensure users stay on track, making it easier to establish the consistency needed to succeed. Remote workers often miss out on the perks and resources typically available in traditional office settings, but they shouldn’t have to. REMOTivatEd fills that gap by creating a supportive experience tailored specifically to their needs—helping them prioritize well-being, productivity, and balance from wherever they work.
What I'll do with $5,000
If I won the $5,000, I’d put it toward contracting an experienced developer to help build out some more advanced/complicated features. The goal is to add new features based on feedback from our prototype testers in 2025. This way, we could make sure REMOTivatEd truly meets the needs of real remote workers. I’d also love to add features that go beyond productivity, incorporating health, fitness, and even creativity boosts, like guided imagination exercises or quick wellness breaks. Plus, we’d work on integrating with tools like Slack to make it easier for users to stay on track. The goal is to make REMOTivatEd a well-rounded resource for healthy, balanced remote work life.
