The most exciting thing about the business so far is its organic growth. It is extremely satisfying to know that our high level of customer service has our clients recommending us to their friends and neighbors. An advantage that we have over our competitors is the ability to service new clients. Many of our clients are coming to us due to their previous service providers being at capacity or having retired from the business. A major road block we have is access to manufacturer computer software. We are actively seeking partnerships with already established dealers in an effort to gain access to computer software while we grow and establish our business. A major advantage to us, a lack of technicians in the work force and an aging work force. The majority of service providers are small operations with aging owners. Several service providers we personally know, are looking to retire within the next 5 years.
Our short term impact is the boating community. We currently service clients in Grand Haven, Muskegon, and Whitehall. We provide high quality service that gives our customers peace of mind when enjoying their hobbies. The long term goal (3-5 years) is to better connect high school and college age individuals in Muskegon and Muskegon Heights with access to jobs, skilled trades, and skilled trades education. To empower youths to literally go across the street and connect them with opportunities.
What I Will Do With $5,000
We have identified 4 primary areas in which the funds would be utilized.
1. Inventory, addition of bulk fluids to reduce our costs and increase profit margins.
2. Tools, engine and drive manufacturer specific tools to complete requested work efficiently and to the highest standards possible.
3. Capital available to hire a part time position and cover an initial month wage.
4. Marketing, targeted marketing and outreach at boating related events, online, through boating related print materials.
