Denim Glide

Many women spend a lot of time and money to find jeans they love and feel great in only to have to toss them much too soon because of a dreaded inner thigh rip. Currently, the only way to fix this problem are to apply an awkward patch or throw them in the trash. There are solutions to protect the skin from chafing but there are no products that protect the clothing as well.

What if you could purchase a product that could be sprayed on to your jeans once after purchase or even applied during washing that would protect specific areas of your denim from extra wear and tear? Denim Glide is designed to do just that - extend the life of your favorite jeans, save you money and keep clothing out of the trash.

Because we are in research and design phase, our largest hurdle is accessing scientific expertise to formulating the product and ensure it meets safety, aesthetic and functional criteria. Once developed and tested, we can prepare the product for sale to an eager market.

Based on our research, we know wear and tear on denim is a problem experienced most by curvy women of all ages. Globally, this market (sizes 14-26) was valued at $165 billion in 2017 and is expected to witness the fastest growth in apparel products. There is great opportunity to serve these customers, helping them to protect & extend the life of their jeans, save money and keep clothing out of landfills. There is also potential for expansion to children’s clothes, men’s jeans, & athletic wear.

What I Will Do With $5,000

The $5,000 will first be used to fund a $3,000 two-phased contract with a formulation chemist. Phase 1 is the research and testing of raw materials, resulting in a written report with recommendations, test results, suppliers and prices. Phase 2 is the actual development of the formulation and preparation of a sample for testing, including manufacturing instructions, suppliers and costs. This investment is critical to accessing the scientific expertise needed to move the product forward.
