Lucia Helen Stavros 120 Views

Music plays a vital role in our society because it teaches listeners to recognize and respect their own emotions and empathize with the emotions of others. Music is also an incredibly wide reaching tool for transmitting independent ideas. “Discipline” is an album focused on presenting the female worldview, through music and lyrics. The artistic intention is to present feminist ideals in a subtle way, so that those who may normally be closed to a feminist message can be reached.

The music industry at this time is heavily dominated by male producers who presents male lyrical and musical perspectives, which are often sexist. The intention of this record is to bring a feminist world view to the mainstream through music and lyrics. The record will directly benefit myself and the musicians who perform on it, and indirectly benefit the listeners who can emotionally connect to a message about female empowerment.

What I Will Do With $5,000

I project the total cost of recording this album to be between $15,000-20,000. I will use the 5,000 award to pay for recording studio fees only.
