As a minority PGA Professional, interested in impacting the community through the game of golf, I feel that we are ready to take the next step! DNA Golf Instruction was founded in 2016 and has operated as a part time business until January 2020. Our mission is to teach the game of golf to everyone no matter background or income. We want our customers to “Discover Natural Ability “and enjoy the game of golf. We have been operating at Indian Trails Golf Course (a city owned), teaching lessons and clinics. We have also created a following on social media, with over 1800 followers on facebook, and video views of 3k to 10k. dnagolfinstruction.com was launched April 17,2020, offering online lessons and branded apparel to combat the fact that we cannot teach golf in person yet (Covid 19). Once we can start in 2020, we will be teaching DNA Golf at Indian Trails and Blythefield Country Club. Golf is becoming more inclusionary, and we feel that we can make an impact with help.
Golf is a dynamic sport that has not been diverse in its recent past. We focus our attention on building a diverse customer base, teaching minorities, women and juniors (Groups that most golf professionals neglect.). Our customer base has provided feedback that indicates that we have the ability to reach a larger audience. Our early shirt sales were sold through out the nation, not just in Michigan. Our social media following shows the ability to reach a large number of customers as well.
What I Will Do With $5,000
We are negotiating our rent for Indian Trails, which is expected to be $2,000 for the 2020 season. The rest would be used to purchase video production equipment for golf instruction videos (cameras and mics ($1,500), marketing tools (signage, business cards, banner) ($800), and Training aids ($800), branded merchandise ( $400 apparel cost of items given away or worn).
The $5,000 would allow us enough to create the platform. We do not need to buy tangible goods, we are selling golf instruction.
