Farm Brigge provides the opportunity for customers to conveniently shop local farmers markets while helping farmers reduce cost and waste of unsold perishable items by receiving preorders ahead of time. It is a unique technology solution to create awareness of local markets and local goods that does not exist today in Michigan, spanning across multiple cities and farmers markets.
Two challenges we have faced thus far include on-boarding all businesses and farms at each of the markets with this being a new idea as well as educating customers on how to use the service.
We have been able to overcome these challenges by offering in-person meetings including trips out to local farms, sharing our story and the positive impact it can have on increased sales and reduced cost/waste, and creating digital content and live demonstration videos of the shopping experience from ordering to pickup.
Local farms, local businesses, and local schools benefit the most. This platform helps local farms/businesses increase sales through marketing, reduces cost through picking/packaging to order, and improves supply and demand through transaction analysis.
With a mission to setup food station experiences leveraging relationships with local businesses, farms, and community partners, we can help change the food mindset of young kids; creating sustainable eating habits for a healthier future.
What I Will Do With $5,000
We will use the grant funds for customer reach. We have spent 90% of our time and capital on building the site and establishing relationships with markets, farms, businesses, and community partners; and 10% on customer reach, mostly through social media, attending markets, and email marketing.
We would like to pivot our focus towards expanding our customer reach with plans to sponsor local health events, support local small businesses, and increase our digital content.
