Coming this fall, the S.S. District is a lakefront dining experience where guests can eat pristine seafood, drink local beer, socialize, and shop for fresh, gourmet food. We’re a hybrid of a daytime market and an evening tapas restaurant and bar. We bring a unique perspective of Holland not found anywhere else.
In an effort to combine our gourmet experience with the element of convenience and portability customers are demanding, we plan to implement a catering program that taps into new consumer occasions such as dinner parties, date nights, boardrooms, and lakeside vacations alike. The program brings pre-styled party boxes that feature our favorite S.S District offerings with the convenience of last minute ordering online or by phone. Featured in our boxes will be local brands that uniquely celebrate the culture and heritage of the region. From local jams, chocolate, meats, and breads, we’re a native perspective of Holland with highly presentable offerings that elevate any occasion.
Our unique location on the Eldean Shipyard positions us as the only dining option for several miles with the ability to directly serve the marina’s 350 boat slips and the 100 private Lake Michigan cottages within walking distance. The restaurant that previously operated in our space (5 years ago) grossed $1.3M in sales in just 4 months. Our captive audience is drooling for this dining experience. Box catering allows our brand to be present in their vacations and sunset boat cruises.
What I Will Do With $5,000
Buildout of the restaurant is already underway, but with the help of Start Garden’s 5x5 night, we’ll be able to drive the box catering program forward and expand our footprint into the greater Holland area. Funds will be allocated towards a cargo van, design and purchase of custom packaging, website design, and other promotional materials. Along with these purchases, 5x5 night will also help spread awareness of the S.S. District restaurant and establish new connections within the community.
