We showcase live authentic African music, spoken word, art and real-life stories from African artists in an intimate and interactive setting. Our goal is to bridge the cultural divide between Africans and the community, while empowering Africans to integrate, fully participate and contribute to growing the economy. Over the years, the African culture and community have received a lot of attention from Africans across the globe, as different bodies look to promote the rich cultural heritage of the continent. Unfortunately, there is still a lot to be done particularly when it comes to telling the African story the way it should – by Africans. This is where we, The Motherland House Concerts are looking to change the narrative with support from other well-meaning institutions.
We showcase a mix of African musicians and poets, different African music genres, real-life stories from 3 different African countries in every house concert thereby, painting a real picture of Africa’s diversity.
Our audience will
- Receive authentic education and knowledge in a fun, engaging & entertaining format.
- Discover a real picture of Africa’s cultural diversity, enabling quicker learning & knowledge assimilation.
- Enjoy a safe space to interact with the artists, ask questions, & get immersed in African culture, immigrant culture, and American culture.
- Our artists, empowered financially, integrate faster and participate in growing the economy, thus, creating revenue for the city.
What I Will Do With $5,000
We will use $2500 to get the remaining equipment we need for a full band for top quality sound. We will save $500 for an emergency fund for the business. $1500 will be used to build a website for Motherland House Concerts and the remaining $500 will be used to shoot videos and photos we need for branding.
