The Printmobile

Like many event-based businesses, The Printmobile has been mostly parked due to COVID-19. Since winning 5x5, we had our first summer full of trial and error. Summer 2 saw a lot of improvements made and great momentum. We were so excited for summer 3, barring a global pandemic, it was going to be the best summer yet!
We’ve taken some time to dream what The Printmobile could be. Yes, it’s an on-site screen printing step van that prints really awesome and original designs, but what could make it better? Fundraising, charity events, something to bring people together outside (wearing masks and staying 6ft apart!) to support local causes people care deeply about.
To do this safely, we need to remodel the truck to keep the press on-board and the customers a safe distance apart. Some shelving needs to be cut out, new panels need to get put in, a vent needs to be added, and at least one service window needs to be installed.

Impact

Many events are still finding ways to happen, and eventually, Lord willing, events will begin to happen in a new normal. Until then, we want to help those people trying to put events and fundraisers together in a safe manner.  We can still show up to golf courses, picnics, car shows, and other outdoor events - but we need to do it safely. To do it safely, we need to print inside The Printmobile, rather than pulling the press and blank inventory outside.

What I Will Do With $5,000

Modify The Printmobile to allow the press to operate inside the vehicle. Shelving needs to be cut out, new panels need to get put in, a vent needs to be added, and at least one service window needs to be installed. Any leftover money will go to improve the visual appeal of the inside of the truck - it’s currently quite… lackluster.

About Kylen Blom

I'm no stranger to the Start Garden & 5x5 crew. I live in Holland and make it to GR all that often, and when I do I make sure to stop by! I love entrepreneurship - I love teaching it, doing it, and giving others the encouragement and opportunity to experience it. I work at Herrick District Library teaching entrepreneurship and introducing people to digital skills to help them along the way. I own Silkscreen Marketing and have two employees that run it like it's their own.
