JHOB has been established for 5 years. We have become a staple in the Grand Rapids community when it comes to reliable service and advocacy for healthy hair care and our next goal is to expand our reach and impact the world. At Jojo’s we cater to our clients specific hair texture and create a plan to get to the desired outcome. What makes us different from our competition is that we can do all hair types. We help biracial children understand their hair. We help mothers and fathers of interracial adoption better relate and manage their children’s hair while simultaneously helping them create a bond with their kids. We also have everything our clients need in house to take home for purchase. From sulfate-free products, to combs, brushes, satin pillowcases and many more.

Impact

Oftentimes people become overwhelmed with the current state of their hair. And it can be a daunting task sometimes to talk them off a ledge from giving up on their hair goals. A simple haircare plan and a paradigm shift of how we think about haircare can prevent so many women, men and children from giving up on their hair desires. Initially women ages 25-65 who are frustrated with their current haircare will benefit from our treatment plans as we aid them in achieving their true hair potential.

What I Will Do With $5,000

With 5K I would like to completely redesign the JHOB online presence. This will include updating and relaunching our e-commerce site to take advantage of current technologies and enhance our customer shopping experience.  It will also include a refresh of the JHOB logo and a rebranding of the JoJo’s Hair Essence product line under JoJo’s H.O.B. Collection for which a portion of the grant will go towards the purchase of new product labels and marketing materials for hair care classes.

About Josephine White

Josephine White born and raised in Detroit, MI. When I was 16 I began to hone my craft as a hair stylist. I graduated from WMU with a BA in Human Resources Management, minor in Business. I graduated in 2007 and worked Corporate America but my dream of owning a salon kept knocking on the door of my heart. So I took the leap of faith and left my job to attend Chic Beauty School. On July 9, 2014 my passion birthed my purpose and I purchased my salon. 5 years in and I’m ready for the next phase!
