About this idea
Zenned Out Kombucha (ZOK) brews a uniquely, well-balanced, kombucha that has subtle tart notes, making it enjoyable for both new-kombucha-drinkers and kombucha-aficionados alike! We are a kombucha brewery focused on creating premium kombucha packed with probiotics, antioxidants, healthy acids & vitamins. The SCOBYs (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast) replicate during the fermentation process. These SCOBYs can be used multiple times during their life cycle. Once the are no long fit for fermentation, there are a wide-range of of uses for them, such as; beauty/skin-care creams, SCOBY-leather, fertilizers, salad-dressing and much more. There are many additional product lines that can be created from SCOBYs. The best part being, SCOBYs are available to us at no added cost. The founders Kyle & Matt began personally brewing kombucha in 2018 as post-workout recovery beverage because of it's revitalizing effect. From there a passion for brewing was cultivated and Zenned Out Kombucha was conceptualized. Starting up during COVID provided new challenges and a few delays, but they persisted with their efforts resulting in becoming licensed and operational in 2022.
Impact
Kombucha positively impacts the health of the consumer, specifically their digestive system by reducing gut-inflammation. On a cellular level it boosts the consumers metabolism. It also has roughly a 1/3 of the amount of sugar as a standard pop/soda, making it a popular option for those looking to reduce their sugar intake. SCOBYs and SCOBY derived materials can have a great macro-impact as they are sustainable items created from the by-products of the fermentation process. A replacement for leather is one of the most notable impacts as moving away from animal-slaughter not only has an ethical benefit but also an environmental one. Many of the SCOBY-derived products are more sustainable than their counter parts and would have an environmental impact.
What I'll do with $5,000
The $5,000 will be used towards expanding brewing capacity for our existing N/A kombucha from 60 gallons to 180 gallons. To increase capacity we will look to acquire four of each of the following pieces of equipment; heat-belts, 30 gallon barrels, micron-covers and dollies. Expanding our brewing capacity will provide us with additional SCOBYs to use in the research and development of our SCOBY derived products. Remaining funds will go towards the initial stability and safety testing of our SCOBY facemasks.
