Optimize The Home

Furniture in West Michigan is over-priced, poorly made, and looks like the furniture from your grandparents home. I am developing a furniture store that optimizes the home with modern functional furniture built by local furniture builders.

About this idea
People drive for hours to go to Ikea. I want to bring some of the Ikea modern touch to West Michigan with Michigan made furniture. I pledge to develop a furniture store that is a destination spot. Ikea might have meatballs but I want a local restaurant and bar within my furniture store. I plan to develop relationships with local growing businesses to partner with me and make a furniture store something good worth talking about, not only because of the great furniture but because of the experience you get when coming. As you sip your wine or beer, the furniture you'll experience is going to help you achieve home optimization. The biggest focus is smaller spaces like tiny homes, RV's, condos, apartments, and people simply downsizing. Everything from the chairs, tables, and even the walls will be crafted in a way to save space, create storage, and fit into that little nook that you just don't know what to do with.
Impact
West Michigan is lacking in great furniture. I want to bring the furniture city back with a twist. I wont bring back traditional furniture, there are enough oversized, overstuffed furniture in the market already. I want to bring smaller more contemporary furniture to west Michigan to support the local furniture builders and enhance our local economy without people having to commute to Ikea just to get a few small bookshelves or tables.
What I'll do with $5,000
Furniture development isn't free (sadly) I need the $5000 to keep working with local builders to develop the furniture that I want to offer. The transformational furniture that I want to offer is new to the west Michigan market and might take a few try's to develop and get it right. We will explore different wood species, and need to continue to search other manufacturers for the right mechanisms to achieve the expandable tables, and hinge storage units. As the development of the products are happening I'm also going to need to build a website and social media marketing for the up and coming furniture store.
