About this idea
Picksy is a product discovery platform that aggregates all the data related to a product including articles, reviews, videos and social media posts, and pairs it with a social platform where your friends review and recommend the things they actually use. This solves the fundamental trust problem in online shopping: you no longer have to wonder whether a review is real or a recommendation is paid for, because the people influencing your decisions are people you know. Everything you need to make a confident purchase lives in one place. While Picksy already has a large catalog of products in its database, users aren't limited to what's there. Anyone can search for any product they want by simply uploading a product URL. From there, our AI agents and models go to work gathering data from across the web and delivering the key insights that matter. Those agents are constantly running in the background, pulling in new information to keep product insights fresh and comprehensive. Users contribute to this too. Every recommendation and review someone leaves makes the platform smarter and more useful for everyone else. People can organize products into folders to support their research process and share those collections with friends. They make posts about products they loved or hated, building a real community around honest opinions. Picksy is the place people go before they make any purchase.
Impact
Product research is broken. Consumers spend hours bouncing between scattered reviews, YouTube videos, Reddit threads and blog posts, only to still feel unsure whether the information they found is genuine or influenced by advertising. The most trustworthy recommendations, the ones from friends and family, happen in private conversations and disappear. No system captures that knowledge and makes it useful at scale. Picksy changes that. By aggregating every relevant piece of product data into one place and using AI to deliver clear insights, Picksy eliminates the research spiral entirely. What used to take an hour takes seconds. That time savings compounds across the hundreds of purchasing decisions the average American makes every year. The deeper impact is on trust. Fake reviews, sponsored content and algorithmic manipulation have eroded consumer confidence to the point where people don't know what to believe. Picksy rebuilds trust by centering discovery around real people you actually know. When your friend reviews a product or adds it to their collection, that signal carries weight no anonymous five star rating ever could. Every user makes the platform better for everyone else. Every review and recommendation feeds the AI engine and enriches the social graph. Picksy scales with authenticity rather than against it. For brands, this creates access to honest aggregated consumer sentiment data that helps them build better products. Picksy becomes the default layer between intent and purchase, where consumer confidence is built and the best products win on merit rather than marketing budget.
What I'll do with $5,000
With $5000, we would invest directly into scaling the AI infrastructure that powers Picksy. As two recent college graduates building this company with zero outside funding, every solution we have implemented so far has been built on free or minimal cost tools. Despite that constraint, we have built a working product with a live AI pipeline that aggregates product data from across the web and delivers real insights to users. But free tier services come with real limitations in speed, accuracy and scale. This funding would allow us to upgrade to premium AI model access and cloud computing resources, which directly translates to faster and more accurate product analysis for our users. Right now our agents are constrained by rate limits, token caps and processing power. With premium services, our AI agents could gather data more aggressively, process it more thoroughly and return higher quality insights in a fraction of the time. That improvement is not just technical, it is the difference between a user waiting and a user getting an answer instantly, which is the difference between retention and churn. It would also allow us to scale our database and serving infrastructure to handle real user growth. We are approaching our public launch and the current architecture works for early testing, but it needs to be hardened for the kind of usage we expect once we begin onboarding users at scale. Premium cloud services, better model APIs and expanded storage would give us the runway to support that growth without compromising the user experience. Every dollar would go toward making Picksy faster, smarter and more reliable. We have proven we can build with nothing. With $5000, we can build something that performs like it had ten times that behind it.

I studied AI and electrical engineering at Purdue, built computer vision and AI systems at Boeing and AeroVironment, and now I'm building Picksy because I needed it and others do too.
