About this idea
Born from Experience, Built for Impact NurtureNext isn’t just another support program—it’s personal. Monique Williams created this initiative as a former teen mom who overcame adversity and, is on the mission, to help teen parents transform their lives through education, mentorship, and mindset change. A Holistic, Three-Pillar Approach NurtureNext delivers extensive support beyond traditional programs which focus only on education or parenting. 1. Parenting Education – Baby care, co-parenting, financial literacy. 2. Career Readiness involves school completion alongside job training and career coaching programs. 3. The Mental Health & Peer Support program offers counseling services alongside mentorship opportunities and identity rebuilding support. Engaging Teen Fathers – The Missing Piece While many programs ignore young fathers NurtureNext provides them with mentorship and parenting resources which strengthens family relationships. Mindset Shift: Overcoming the Power of Words Teen parents are often labeled as failures. Words have a more profound impact than physical blows because they define our sense of self. NurtureNext works to transform young parents’ thinking by demonstrating that their lives continue despite new challenges while they follow an unexpected journey. Impact & Growth Vision • Year 1 Goal: NurtureNext will support 50 teen parents by establishing mentorship opportunities and career development programs alongside childcare partnerships. • Long-Term: Develop relationships with educational institutions and health care facilities while creating corporate alliances to end poverty cycles and establish successful family units.
Impact
NurtureNext isn’t just a program—it’s a movement designed to create lasting change in the lives of teen parents, their children, and the community. Here’s how: 1. Empowering Teen Parents to Break Cycles of Poverty • Provides education and career pathways to prevent school dropouts and unemployment. • Helps parents secure stable jobs and financial independence, reducing reliance on public assistance. 2. Strengthening Families & Child Well-Being • Equips parents with childcare, parenting skills, and emotional support to foster healthy development. • Ensures children of teen parents grow up in nurturing, stable environments, increasing their long-term success. 3. Changing the Narrative for Teen Fathers • Engages young dads with mentorship and co-parenting resources, helping them stay actively involved in their children’s lives. • Reduces absentee fatherhood, leading to stronger family structures and better emotional outcomes for kids. 4. Improving Mental Health & Confidence • Provides therapy, peer support, and mindset coaching to help parents overcome stigma, depression, and self-doubt. • Helps young parents turn past criticism into personal growth and resilience. 5. Long-Term Community Impact • Creates a pipeline of educated, self-sufficient young parents who contribute to society. • Reduces teen homelessness, child neglect, and long-term government dependency. Measuring Success First Year Goals: āœ” Serve 50 teen parents with direct mentorship & resources. āœ” Secure childcare partnerships to help parents stay in school/work. āœ” Increase high school graduation & employment rates among participants. 5-Year Vision: āœ” Expand to hundreds of teen parents across Michigan. āœ” Build partnerships with schools, hospitals, and businesses for greater impact. āœ” Develop a national model for teen parent support programs. NurtureNext isn’t just about helping young parents—it’s about rewriting their future and changing generational outcomes.
What I'll do with $5,000
Launch a high-impact, 3-month pilot program called the NurtureNext Teen Parent Empowerment Training, designed to provide hands-on training, mentorship, and immediate resources to teen parents, proving the effectiveness of our approach and building momentum for future funding. 1. Host a 3-Month ā€œTeen Parent Empowerment Trainingā€ ($2,000) • Workshops & Training: • Hands-on sessions covering parenting, financial literacy, career planning, and mental wellness. • Guest speakers including successful former teen parents, career coaches, and mental health professionals. • Venue & Supplies: • Rental space at a community center or library for in-person sessions. • Workbooks, notebooks, childcare essentials (diapers, formula for participants). 2. Offer Childcare Stipends to Remove Barriers ($1,000) • Partner with a local daycare or childcare provider to offer on-site or discounted care during bootcamp sessions. • Provide transportation stipends (bus passes, gas cards) for participants who need assistance. 3. Digital & Social Media Marketing to Gain Visibility ($1,000) • Professional video production (short docu-style promo featuring Monique’s story + participant testimonials). • Targeted social media ads to recruit participants and gain community support. • Website landing page with a sign-up form for parents, mentors, and donors.
