About this idea
LabStract is an on-site chemical testing system that automates plating bath analysis—no kits, no color matching, no guesswork. Most plating shops still test manually, with titrations, tensiometers and visually judging results. It’s messy, inconsistent, unsafe and waste materials. LabStract uses precision pumps, microfluidic chips, and AI-powered image analysis to run consistent tests and send results to the cloud—fully automated and traceable. Shops get real-time insights into their chemical health, reduce downtime, improve quality, and avoid compliance issues, reduces human exposure to hazardous chemicals. We’re working with plating experts and hardware partners to bring this system to life
Impact
LabStract makes chemical testing safer and more affordable. It reduces worker exposure to hazardous reagents by automating the entire process inside a closed system. At the same time, it cuts costs by using small volumes of reagent, reducing waste, and eliminating the need for expensive third-party testing or overuse of chemicals due to guesswork.
What I'll do with $5,000
The $5,000 would help us lock in critical early milestones: • File a provisional patent to protect our core system design • Build updated housing prototypes for testing and integration • Contribute toward microfluidic chip development, which costs $7,000 total for our first round of formats and iterations This funding would bridge key gaps as we move from R&D to pilot testing.
