Impact
BRCĒ’s lacing systems prevent one of the most common and costly injuries in sports—ankle sprains and instability caused by loose or shifting footwear. Ankle injuries account for nearly 45% of all sports-related injuries and cost U.S. teams and athletes over $2 billion annually in treatment, rehabilitation, and lost playing time. By keeping shoes consistently locked and stable, our technology reduces these preventable injuries, protects athlete careers, and enhances overall performance and confidence.
We are expanding pilots with major programs and beginning to equip youth athletes across Michigan—starting in West Michigan with Western Michigan University—ensuring injury prevention is built into the foundation of young athletes’ careers. For schools and teams, this means healthier athletes, fewer medical costs, and stronger competitive outcomes.
Beyond athletics, the impact extends to industrial workers, military, and first responders, where secure footwear can mean the difference between safety and serious accidents. With 8x stronger-than-steel material technology and proven athlete validation, BRCĒ’s innovation establishes a new global standard for injury prevention and performance reliability.
What I'll do with $5,000
With $5,000, BRCĒ will accelerate our path toward becoming the industry standard for ankle injury prevention and footwear safety. The funding will go directly toward industry-standard material and biomechanical testing, validating our lacing systems against ASTM and ISO benchmarks. This testing is a critical step in building the trust and credibility required to scale into global footwear partnerships, ensuring our technology is not just innovative, but verified by the highest performance and safety standards.
These resources will also support expansion into collaborations with major footwear companies, who require third-party test data before integrating new materials into their products. By producing these results, we will be able to fast-track ongoing conversations with brands like Nike, Under Armour, and Carhartt, positioning BRCĒ as the go-to provider of secure lacing systems for athletic, tactical, and industrial markets.
Additionally, the funding will allow us to equip more youth athletes in Michigan through pilot programs—starting with Western Michigan University and expanding to high school and club programs. This grassroots effort will give young athletes access to safer gear while generating real-world performance and injury-prevention data to further validate our solution.
In short, $5,000 will enable us to prove, at scale, that BRCĒ’s lacing systems are the gold standard for footwear safety—unlocking broader adoption, accelerating industry partnerships, and helping us protect athletes and workers from preventable injuries worldwide.
