About this idea
Great Lakes Displays LLC provides indoor and outdoor LED walls and digital signage designed to help small businesses, churches, and community organizations increase visibility, engagement, and revenue. My idea focuses on creating a portable demo LED wall system and expanding targeted outreach so potential customers can see, touch, and experience the technology before purchasing. Many small businesses want digital signage but hesitate because they’ve never seen it used in a space like theirs. This project removes that barrier. The demo system will be used for: On-site demonstrations at businesses, churches, and events Temporary installs for trials and testimonials Content demonstrations showing promotions, menus, announcements, and advertising By combining the demo system with focused outreach and professional content samples, Great Lakes Displays can shorten sales cycles, close higher-value projects, and educate underserved businesses on how LED technology can work for them.
Impact
This idea directly supports small businesses and community institutions by giving them access to modern visual communication tools that are typically out of reach. The impact includes: Helping small businesses attract more foot traffic and communicate promotions clearly Supporting churches and nonprofits with better announcements, livestream visuals, and event promotion Creating long-term revenue opportunities for Great Lakes Displays, allowing for future job creation and subcontracting Strengthening local commercial corridors by improving storefront visibility and professionalism By lowering the barrier to adoption through live demos and education, this project empowers organizations to compete visually with larger brands while keeping dollars circulating in the local economy.
What I'll do with $5,000
The $5,000 grant will be used exclusively for eligible, revenue-generating expenses: $3,200 – Demo LED Wall Equipment Modular LED panels Controller and power components Mounting hardware for indoor demonstrations $900 – Software & Content Tools LED content management software Prebuilt templates for menus, ads, and announcements $600 – Installation & Demo Tools Transport cases Cabling, brackets, and safety equipment $300 – Targeted Outreach Materials Demo signage, printed leave-behind materials, and sample visuals This investment will immediately increase sales capacity, shorten sales cycles, and generate revenue well beyond the grant amount.
