About this idea
Maudi creates intentionally designed, timeless clothing that prioritizes fit, quality, and individuality. We currently offer a range of clothing pieces, from underwear to pajama sets to jackets. What separates Maudi from the rest is our perspective on the communities that are often underrepresented, which allows us to story tell through each release in a way that's never been done before that makes the consumer feel like they are apart of something.
Impact
The current problem in my community is lack of representation, quality, accessible luxury, and intention. Maudi addresses gaps in fit, quality, and representation by creating intentionally designed clothing that reflects the needs of real people. Each piece is developed with an understanding of body variation, ensuring better fit and comfort without requiring customers to compromise on sizing or coverage. The brand prioritizes quality materials, including 100% cotton when can be applied, while maintaining accessible pricing that offers a luxury feel without the traditional markup. In addition to product design, Maudi emphasizes representation by creating clothing from the perspective of and for communities that are often underserved in fashion by bringing in the community to represent the brand through photo shoots and product campaigns. This approach allows customers to see themselves reflected in both the product and the brand. This has resulted in strong early indicators of customer satisfaction, including consistent sales growth, no product returns to date, and the ability to maintain competitive pricing, with the highest priced item currently at $120.
What I'll do with $5,000
This amount will support inventory production for upcoming releases, consistent marketing efforts to increase visibility and sales, content creation for brand growth, and operational expenses such as packaging, website maintenance, and a planned branding event. Depending on materials used and complexity of design inventory has been at the max roughly $2,000 per release. To complete the four part drop series, I am releasing a t shirt and swim set for the summer and sweatpants in the fall to finish. The previous cost of my t-shirt I designed was $13.80 with a minimum of 50 units and a previous swim set was $10.50 with a minimum of 50 units as well,. I also have to factor in shipping which has been anywhere between $300 to $400 depending on weight once packaged from my manufacturer so I can expect around the same for my next release. A portion of the grant will also support my first branding event as a part of the four-part drop series titled "Lover's Lane" (venue: $85/hour for 6 hours, $510 total), along with photographers and videographers ($150–$300 per session) to support content creation and marketing for future releases and events. Additional costs include website maintenance ($39/month) and packaging ($150 per drop). Marketing will require an estimated $10 to $15 per day in ad spend, totaling approximately $300 staying at the minimum of $10 per day for a 30 day period.. This funding supports consistent visibility throughout the next few months, retargeting efforts, and audience growth, which are essential for increasing conversion rates and driving sales.
