About this idea
When you see the news on the TV, read the articles online or look at what may be going on around you, it appears that the world is becoming more chaotic and dangerous – riots, pandemics, cyber attacks, natural disasters and active shooters. Brooks Defense Consultations, LLC is a self-protection firm that’s geared towards equipping our clients and community with the skills and knowledge to prepare for the worst-case scenario and to use assertive techniques when necessary. We accomplish this by taking a holistic approach through training in self-defense, emergency preparedness and crisis management in a responsible, practical and cost-effective manner.
Impact
While I enjoy training experienced students, I'm particularly passionate about training those that are new to the subject matter as well as those with disabilities. Currently, I'm in the process of acquiring approval to offer our Real Estate Agent Safety & Self-Defense course as continuing education through the local realtor association in Lansing, MI.
What I'll do with $5,000
I will use the grant to acquire my certification as a civilian taser instructor as I've been receiving requests from students and the availability of instructors in my area for that course is minimal.
