We have had the honor to serve Good.Affordable.Food to patrons of all colors and backgrounds in the City of Muskegon going on 2 years now. What makes us different? Our ever-changing menu and unique food choices. The menu changes EVERY Friday and features eclectic food from many cultures. We often fuse cultures in a meal. Additionally our meals are VERY affordable. In the summer we utilize our own garden as well as the local farmers market. This year we have plans to utilize the urban farm located in the heart of the city for fresh produce.

What’s most exciting about KC? Our customers. They anticipate the weeks menu and have essentially helped build this business via word of mouth and using their social media as a platform for KC. Additionally, we’re most excited about how this community has loved on us from the beginning. They encourage us to be great and they go just as hard in prayer, researching food trucks and loans to help us get to where we are destined to be.

Impact

Currently, our guests that purchase food weekly benefit. Many of our meals are very good, but surprisingly good for you as well! My family has been able to be self sufficient because of KC. We also love to gift portions of our income to numerous fundraising efforts for youth in the community as well as offering our services for some none profit organizations free of charge.  Our plans for future impact is what we most look forward to - feeding kids in our community hot meals for FREE.

What I Will Do With $5,000

We currently operate the business out of our home utizling Michigan’s cottage laws. Our goal is to match the $5,000 that we hope to win from this competition to purchase a food truck and new food prep materials and utensils.

I am a mother of 4 who happens to be married to her very best friend in the world. I LOVE reading. My greatest passion is creating meal items for our business. I adore my community and am very engaged in what is going on in Muskegon. I have absolutely NO culinary schooling. I was taught in the culinary school of hard-knocks by a no nonsense grandmother and numerous family members that are chefs in their own right.
