Toro Coffee

We are a mobile coffee cart — our concept is easy; bring the coffee to the people, wherever that may be. Our focus will be on events such as: weddings, festivals, corporate events, private events, community pop-ups, and more. Grand Rapids is a city built on community, and Toro Coffee wants to be an extension of that. We strive to bring excellent hospitality and accessible specialty coffee.

About this idea
We make your next event that much more memorable. We have seen the impact of coffee bringing people together. Whether you are a creative, left brain/right brain, coffee is a median for human connection. Who doesn’t like to hang out with their friends at a coffee shop?!? Well now, that coffee shop is mobile and in your desired favorite place. Wherever you want that to place to be, we want to be right there with you and your loved ones.
Impact
Our hope is that we have many avenues of impact. As a first generation Mexican-American, we want to represent our culture within our city of Grand Rapids. Half the coffee in the world is sourced in Central and South America, and we want to bring more recognition to those farmers. We also want to increase the the accessibility of specialty coffee to Grand Rapids. Our city is rapidly growing and the demand for specially coffee is also growing. We want to offer the best possible coffee for our city. Our mission is to connect people through coffee, and what better way to do that than with a mobile coffee cart. We go wherever you want us to. We want to make your next event special.
What I'll do with $5,000
We would use that to get our coffee cart, grow our marketing strategy, grow our website, create content, grow our engagement, and produce a line of merch.
Quick Bio
My name is Nathanael Hernandez. I’m a Grand Rapids native, hoping to make an impact in my city. I’ve worked as a music teacher for the better part of my life, and most recently as a Job Coach at a non-profit after school program for kids and youth on the west side. I am stepping into the next chapter in life and following my passion, where I hope to continue to serve my community in a different form.
