About this idea
LabStract is building a compact, automated lab testing system that uses microfluidic cartridges and smart sensors to handle chemical analysis with minimal human input. Users interact with the system through an intuitive mobile and desktop app, which walks them through setup, runs tests, and delivers real-time results. Our platform is designed to reduce lab overhead, improve consistency, and shorten testing turnaround for industries like metal finishing, chemical processing, and manufacturing.
Impact
LabStract improves safety, efficiency, and accessibility in industrial lab testing. By automating repetitive and hazardous chemical tests, it reduces technician exposure to harmful substances and lowers the risk of human error. Our system enables faster decision-making with real-time results, helping companies minimize downtime and maintain tighter process control. It also lowers the barrier for training and staffing, making high-quality testing accessible to more facilities — even those without dedicated chemists.
What I'll do with $5,000
The $5,000 will be used to build and deliver our first field-ready prototype to an early customer site. This includes purchasing key hardware components (sensors, microfluidic parts, electronics), developing the companion app interface, and assembling the full testing system. We’ll also use a portion to cover testing materials and travel for on-site support and feedback. This milestone is critical to validating the product in a real-world environment and unlocking our next round of pilot users.
Quick Bio
I’ve always been drawn to robotics and automation, and this project has become a way to combine that passion with my engineering mindset and planning skills.
