About this idea
The Sky Snooze Travel Mask is meant to take the place of those bulky, cumbersome, and ineffective travel pillows. This mask slips over the headrest in most airplanes and keeps your head from nodding off onto your neighbor. Its simple and easy to use, fits in your pocket or carry-on, and it is not flagging people in the airport that you are going to try to sleep on the plane. There are some ideas out there that are like this, but they are expensive as they have to pay for their patent. The Sky Snooze economy model would come in at $13, where are competitor comes in at 20 to 72. We have generated a lot of interest, but the main market is on amazon and in airports.
Impact
The primary impact of the Sky Snooze Sleep Mask is comfort. As a frequent traveler, I’ve endured countless late nights, red-eye flights, and chaotic travel schedules. Since creating Sky Snooze, I’ve actually looked forward to early flights—knowing I could finally get meaningful rest. Sky Snooze keeps your head upright, helping prevent neck pain and discomfort. It also reduces the awkwardness of accidentally falling asleep on your neighbor. By offering a lightweight, compact, and affordable alternative to traditional travel pillows, it stands to disrupt a niche yet highly competitive part of the travel accessory market. The global sleep accessory market is valued at approximately $4 billion annually, with a growing focus on compact, ergonomic solutions for in-transit rest. Sky Snooze combines two essential sleep tools—a mask and a support pillow—into one simple device. We aim to capture a small but significant portion of this market, scaling from a fraction of a percent to a household travel brand. For many travelers, sleeping well isn’t a luxury—it’s essential. Sky Snooze makes that possible, affordably and conveniently.
What I'll do with $5,000
The $5,000 grant will be used to fund our initial production run, secure shelf space in Amazon warehouses through Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), and build a dedicated website for Sky Snooze. These investments will establish our retail foundation and allow us to reach customers directly and through trusted platforms. As we move into our second round of purchasing, this funding will also support hiring a project manager to handle operations and help scale the business efficiently.
