About this idea
Our current mixer is too small to meet growing orders, requiring multiple small batches that slow production. Our cold storage doesn’t have enough space to store finished products or ingredients in bulk, limiting prep and wholesale scaling. We're increasing sales through wholesale partners, special events, and community markets. Larger equipment means less time baking, more time selling and marketing. The equipment will help reduce labor hours and allow us to train staff more efficiently.
Impact
Love Muffins is a woman-owned, family-led bakery rooted in legacy and love. We support a local farm in Michigan through the purchase of carrots for our top seller. The expansion will help us reach more local families with our products and continue to support local economic growth. This is a key step toward sustainable scaling, with future goals including:
More wholesale accounts
Hiring and training team members
Expanded product lines
A dedicated kitchen space to grow Love Muffins further
What I'll do with $5,000
With a grant of $5000, we could purchase a gently used 60qt mixer. An additional mixer with triple the capacity, will directly increase our daily production capacity. We will save time and labor immediately — fewer batches, less mixing fatigue and faster prep. Higher output lets us generate more sales and build inventory, even with limited freezer space. Once production is streamlined, we can better justify and fund the freezer purchase with increased revenue and efficiency.
