About this idea
We are currently operating a seasonal business in what is called the Muskegon Western Market. This market comprises of 17 chalets in varying sizes. We operate in the largest available chalet at 150 sq ft with limited power. We operate similarly to a food truck; our guests walk up to our window and order, receiving food the same way. All our guests have to either dine outside or go elsewhere with their food. There is limited seating on site and in the height of summer it can be uncomfortable for some to eat in the sun. What we are hoping to accomplish is moving to a larger facility within an already established brewery/coffee shop. We have found that more and more people are wanting a location that they can sit down and relax inside. We also find that having alcoholic beverages on site is also another factor people tend to weigh when deciding their destination. Having tasty craft coffee and beer/cider options on site would only stand to help us when people decide where they would like to spend their time. We also love the concept of two local businesses working together but individually on what they are each talented at. The owners of the brewery/coffee shop are hopeful that having food on site will bolster their sales as well as ours. They see opportunity for both of us to succeed in this space they have created. In order to see this project through we would need to do some renovations to the current setup. The money would help to invest in running more electrical and updating plumbing to be able to meet both businesses needs. We also would be investing in some new electric equipment that we were unable to run at the chalets due to limited power available on site. With these few minor details we should be able to start running and generate more capital to invest into more growth. Impact
The impact of our move would directly benefit both businesses and our guests. We have already found that our guests are often already visiting both locations. For example people would either show up to MELT with a coffee already from them OR they would bring our food to their indoor establishment for further beverage needs. We believe that our joining forces would help both our businesses by filling in the needs we both have. MELT offers limited beverage options and the Brewery/Coffee Shop doesn't have food. Then the guests would ultimately have one all inclusive spot that they can enjoy without as much travel. We also believe it would entice future guests due to the same reasons; less travel for food & beverage more time to enjoy!
What I'll do with $5,000
Our $5,000 would go directly towards building out the space including running electric, updating plumbing and procuring new equipment to operate within the newly created space!
