About this idea
Team Get Fit’s Youth Sports Camp (YSC) is a program in which we host youth groups from different organizations for 5 days (Mon-Fri) for 2.5 hours each day. The ages of the youth will range from 6 to 16 years old. Each day is broken up into two sections. Section one is the educational portion where we teach about fitness and nutrition. For section two we dive into the physicality of sports and the training and execution for a top tier athlete. To promote leadership and to ensure that no one is left out, we make sure to pair up our younger students with the older ones. To promote optimal health and readiness, healthy snacks and drinks will be provided each day. Each youth group will get there own unique color of the YSC shirt to commemorate their group experience.
Impact
The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow. Our YSC program targets those youth and exposes them to a whole new world of health and wellness. When we teach the importance of what goes into the body and how that has a direct impact on their performance and longevity, we essentially create a new, knowledgeable, health conscious, high output, group of leaders that are already used to working as a team. The impact that this type of youth will have on the next generation has yet to be seen, but we have the belief that they will undoubtedly change the world for the better. There will be less people dying from preventable health conditions such as high blood pressure and stroke, increasing the life expectancy by at least 20 years. There will be less people getting sick and in need of medication because they understand the importance of a healthy diet and frequent exercise. This will change FDA regulations and the Health Care System in an unprecedented way. The impact of our youth is so vast, we just want to be part of opening the doors for them.
What I'll do with $5,000
Most of our budget will go towards providing healthy snacks and drinks to our students for free. To provide that to over two hundred students is the bulk of our budget and we know that healthy food always costs more than the unhealthy stuff. We feed them because we need our students to be alert and energized in order to participate at their highest capacity. Running around practicing sports every day in the summer heat tends to make one very thirsty, so it is important that we have plenty of drinks on hand. We have learned not to put all of our eggs into one basket. If this proposal is not funded, we will still carry out our project. Last year we leveraged partnerships that we’ve created and funded a majority of the project through them. We have people in the community with an invested interest in our success.
Quick Bio
As a young black male, life has had a predetermined identity for me. It was important for to me to create my own life's story. So I became a business owner and started helping others do the same.
