About this idea
Our swimwear startup, Saint Andro, is focused on providing androgynous, gender-fluid styles for individuals who want to break free from exclusionary, gendered swim silhouettes currently dominating the market. We will be marketing largely towards the underserved LGBTQ+ community, however our offerings can benefit any person in search of highly functional, comfortable, gender fluid swim apparel.
Saint Andro was born out of the limited options available to the LGBTQ+ community. This is a largely underserved demographic in the fashion industry, and the products we are offering will be highly anticipated by those in this community. In the spirit of inclusivity, we chose to market these new silhouettes under a brand name that stands on its own, and whose community can include anyone who is looking for an alternative option. We believe there is a need for these suits broadly, and in many facets of water-related recreation. There is a massive gap in the market for gender neutral swimwear, and we are excited to create a product that will positively impact people's lives.
What I'll do with $5,000
Better-than-industry-standard design testing & fit development: Spending more time nailing down each size run of a particular product with our pattern-maker will help us stay head-above-the-rest when it comes to properly fitting our customers. Booking fit models & time is billed hourly; but the more fit tests the more fit perfection. The sooner we can invest in product development, the faster we can build customer retention over a lifetime of bodily changes.

hello! I am a 27 y/o woman, currently working in the footwear industry. I am passionate about inclusive fashion design. Apart from my full-time job in logistics, I spend my time designing androgynous garments and exploring 3D fashion software. You can probably find me at Lyon St Cafe.
